EYS Turbos - Labor Day Tournament - Day 1

..and just like that, the EYS Turbos put day 1 in the books.

The Turbos kicked off their first preseason tournament today in East Brunswick. 2 games in less than 3 hours...and the played their hearts out the whole time.

Game 1: Turbos vs. Monroe

It took them a little while to shake off the opening day butterflies, but the Turbos battled hard after they got into their rhythm. Down 2-0 early in the first half, they found a way to bring the game back even at 2-2 just before the half. It looked like the Turbos had battled all the way back to take the lead at 3-2, but some confusion around the new "Build Out Line" rule nullified the goal. A few minutes later, the Turbos went down 3-2, but again found a way to battle back late to tie the game. It looked like it would end in a tie, but the team from Monroe found a way to score late to seal to take the lead for good. The Turbos nearly tied it up with seconds to play, but the last shot of the game hit the post and rolled out. Seconds later, the final whistle blew to end the game.

All in all, a GREAT game The Turbos never gave up and played hard for each other.

Game 2: Turbos vs. East Brunswick

No early game jitters here. The Turbos showed up ready to go from the gate for the 2nd game of the day. A few minutes into the game, the Turbos jumped out to a 1-0 lead. They held off some later rushes to end the half and carried that lead into the second half. Some quick passing by East Brunswick helped them pull the game back even, and then minutes later, saw them take the lead. It looked like the Turbos were headed towards a heartbreak loss, but they found a way to tie it halfway through the 2nd half. That would be all of the scoring in this one as the teams walked away with a hard fought draw.

VERY PROUD OF YOU TURBOS!!! Way to battle out there today!
